On Sunday 28th January, I had breakfast at the rooftop terrace of a café with lovely views of all three volcanoes.
Btw, I just found out that these three inspired Antoine de Saint-Exupéry to write about two inactive and one active volcano in “The Little Prince”. Then I spent around three hours chatting with my German friend at her hostel before getting ready for another volcano tour.
I met my Polish friend at a café and some time later we got picked up by a shuttle which brought us to the volcano Pacaya. We were 20 people on the bus and especially one Argentinian guy was really getting on my nerves.
The hike was more like a stroll compared to tour overnight trip to Acatenango but still pretty exhausting.
At the top we roasted marshmallows in a hole in the ground and saw a stunningly beautiful sunset on the hike down.
By the time we got back to the shuttle it was pitch dark and on the drive back we got stuck in traffic.
Around 8.30 pm we finally arrived in Antigua and I had a delicious avocado soup at a very nice restaurant. Unfortunately the service wasn’t great and they first served me the wrong soup and then it took ages until I finally got what I wanted. But I’d ordered a G&T as well so it wasn’t too bad. 😉
