Pyramids & Churches

The next day we got picked up for our day trip at 8.30 am. We spent hours on an uncomfortable minibus but went to beautiful places. First stop was Santa Maria Tonantzintla, then we walked through the underground tunnels of the Pirámide de Cholula and visited the archaeological site.

I find it very interesting, that the Spanish conquerers felt the need to build a catholic church on top of the remnants of every Maya pyramide.

In Puebla we had another buffet lunch before a guided walking tour through the beautiful city.

On the way back to Mexico City we saw a glimpse of the volcano Popocatépetl.
